Any generous person who donates one of the four requisites of the Buddhist monk: clothing, provisions, shelter and medicines to receivers in order to fill their necessary needs. Such donation is an excellent deed.
Clothing is not referred to only the saffron robes for monks but also the ones for general laymen. Every person, monk or layman needs clothing, but they don't feel comfortable if they live without them, because they have to directly face heat or cold. However, If they have no clothing to wear or cover the body, they will not live comfortably. That's why generous people gives clothing like sampot, shirt, pants and so on to their mother and father or layman. Provision is food like rice, rice soup, fruits and so on which can be put into mouth, chewed and swallowed. Human being or animals in the world needs the porvisions, but they cannot live if they don't have them to suport. However, not only food people eat, but also the food for the animals is included in the provision. Shelte is used by the Buddha's disciples to refer to for both monks and laymen. Every perrson and animal needs the shelter unavoidably. Also, medicine as a liquid that is easy to drink or swallow to cure illness. Every erson always has a disease and they need to cure themselves with those. The people believe that giving things like that will get Phala Nisang (fruit of one's good deed) in both present and future.
Offering clothing, provisions, shelter and medicines to receivers is called a five-good-result giver, which returns back to him or her in the future. They are: Longevity, Beauty, Happiness, Strength and Intelligence.
